NGC 6946, first
try (in a long time)
If this pretty galaxy weren't
hidden on the other side of our arm of the Milky Way, it might
be easire to image. This is my best effort so far,
26, 240 second sub frames in fair but hazy skies.. My sky was
on the edge of clear enough, 240 seconds was probably pushing
it a bit, and when processing,
it was apparent that I need at least twice the exposure time and
could use some 600 second subs... I'll give it a try, but the
north of my sky is pretty bright
due to a city just over the big mountain... everywhere... a slight
focus shift gave lots of coma, so cropping was done for aesthetic
reasons.. (grins)
26x240 seconds, Meade Classic
LX200 12 inch with Meade reducer to f6.8 Hap mod 350d
acquired, calibrated, stacked and processed in Nebulosity, guided
by PHD, DSI Pro, 80mm antique Meade
post processing (noise, saturation, contrast) in Photoshop CS3
apologies for the bit of
over preocessing.. I might work on a less processed, noisier version
this week, or maybe add a few longer subs...
